Feeder/Waterer Recommendations

Chick feeder 3 weeks old ports. When chicks get bigger, open higher port. When they are full size, set on blocks.

No-Waste Design

Chick feeder 3 weeks old ports.

The weight of the chicken opens access to feed, keeping out squirrels, mice, etc. Works best after 3 months old or so when they weigh a little more!

Sturdy, top fill feeder designed to minimize spillage.

Sturdy Budget Feeder

Top fill capability makes it a breeze. Water is contained, meaning less evaporation and less junk in the water! Also, horizontal nipples don't hold water in the mechanism, so you can put a heating element in the bucket in the winter and they won't freeze.

*Downside: in the heat of the summer, we feel chickens have to do too much work for too little water, possibly leading to dehydration.

Horizontal Nipple Waterer

Best design we've ever seen for an automatic watering system. Provides open water without the chickens having to do any extra work.

*Downsides: They will not operate in freezing temperatures, and you must install on some container yourself.

Automatic Waterer Cups

Sturdy hanging open waterer. Comes in 3.5 gallon size also.

Sturdy Budget Waterer

Keeps water available on freezing days. Just be sure to follow precautions for running electricity outside.
